Messe Düsseldorf bundles medical trade fairs under “umbrella” MEDICA

Messe Düsseldorf bundles its global competence for medical trade fairs under the “umbrella” of MEDICA

One team for the global strategy at hand as well as marketing

Messe Düsseldorf bundles its worldwide competence in carrying out top events for the health industry. With immediate effect, one team under the “umbrella” of the world’s largest medicine trade fair, MEDICA, will be driving forward both the global strategy and marketing measures for domestic trade fairs as well as those held abroad. The organisational separation up until now between domestic and foreign business is giving way for the centralised organisation of all planning activities, encompassing the complete event portfolio under the label `World of MEDICA´.

As global portfolio director, Horst Giesen, who up until now has been the director of MEDICA, REHACARE and COMPAMED, shall be assuming full responsibility for the team operating on a worldwide level for the “World of MEDICA” events. Christian Grosser (MEDICA + COMPAMED) and Hannes Niemann (REHACARE) will be providing him support as deputy directors.

For decades, medical trade fairs have been a centrepiece of Messe Düsseldorf’s programme of events. The Düsseldorf location, for example, regularly features MEDICA, REHACARE as the most significant specialist trade fair for rehabilitation and care worldwide, or also COMPAMED, as the leading international trade fair for the medical manufacturing supplier market.

The `World of MEDICA´ events of the Messe Düsseldorf Group abroad include, among others, MEDICAL FAIR INDIA (Mumbai/ New Delhi),  MEDICAL FAIR ASIA (Singapore) or also MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND (Bangkok) as well as other partner events in Russia, China, the USA and Brazil. 71 foreign representative offices for 132 countries make up the worldwide presence of the Messe Düsseldorf Group. Due to 12 participating companies and subsidiaries, trade fair concepts that are “Made in Düsseldorf” are exported into important future global markets in a market-oriented way.

This extremely well-interconnected transnational network will also provide support to the Messe Düsseldorf medical trade-fair team, presenting the features of their markets in detail for marketing purposes.

“Firstly, the leading trade fairs held at the Düsseldorf location, such as MEDICA for example, are aligned with target groups at the top decision-making level, further expanded topically and continuously marketed at a global level. Furthermore, the expansion of the medical trade fair portfolio outside of Germany will contribute to offering business and communication platforms to companies in the health industry, also in other lucrative continental markets,” commented Joachim Schäfer, managing director of Messe Düsseldorf, explaining the strategy.

MEDICA 2016 will be held from 14 to 17 November in Düsseldorf, running from Monday to Thursday as was the case the previous year. In parallel to MEDICA 2016 (in 2015: almost 5,000 exhibitors from 70 countries), COMPAMED 2016 will be taking place as the internationally leading specialist trade fair for suppliers of the medical technology industry (in 2015: 779 exhibitors from 37 countries). In 2015, both events were visited by a total of 130,000 specialist visitors from around 120 countries.
