The leading international live competition for the best health app solution for day-to-day use for patients, doctors and clinics, the MEDICA App COMPETITION 2017, will take place for the sixth time during the medical world’s biggest trade fair, MEDICA, which boasts over 5,000 exhibitors, (from 13 to 16 November 2017). The MEDICA App COMPETITION 2017 will be embedded as a session at the MEDICA CONNECTED HEALTHCARE FORUM.
Developers from all over the world can submit their app solutions up until 30 September 2017. The applications will undergo pre-selection by a jury of top experts (the classification stage will be in calendar week 40/2017). The 15 developer teams whose submitted solutions best fulfil the participation and assessment criteria in the opinion of the jury will qualify to take part in the Live Pitch during MEDICA 2017. All those nominated for this live event will be informed in early October 2017.
The actual pitch will occur live on Wednesday, 15 November, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the stage of the MEDICA CONNECTED HEALTHCARE FORUM, located in Hall 15.
The competition structure is best described as short and sweet: Each team will have three minutes to present their developed app in English. For another two minutes the jury will ask questions. Following the 15 presentations the jury will retire to deliberate. After this the teams in first to third place will be named winners immediately.
Naturally, the most important prize is the international attention that MEDICA brings to the product. The winners can also look forward to media coverage from all related MEDICA media channels, as well as international specialist media. Furthermore, the first place winner will be awarded 2,000 euros, second place will be awarded 1,000 euros and third place will receive 500 euros. Sponsors and media partners will also donate many non-cash prizes once again for 2017.
Last year’s victor was “Up Right”, a combination of an app and a wearable from a development team from Israel. This application helps to optimize posture and stimulates movement. It vibrates on the user’s back as soon as they sit in a slouched position.
